Hi all

Just thought id mentioned this article i found in the practical caravan January issue, its about how to stop hangers falling on the floor while towing, i remember reading some way back about someone asking how to stop the clothes/hangers falling all over floor while towing, well, here it explains, and i have to say its a clever idea.

Wedging foam pipe insulation of suitable thickness and length between the hanging rail and the wardrobe ceiling always does the trick for us.

I read the same article and thought it was like taking a sledge hammer to break a nut.We have towed many thousands of miles without ever dropping a hanger all I do is tie a strong loop of elastic around each end of the hanging rail, I then have a slim batten of timber the same lenth as the rail and slide each end under the elastic with the batten over the top of the hangers, total cost 30p time taken less than five mins

I have always [ after our first tow ] just wedged an off cut of thick foam between the rail and the shelf above . Providing it's a tight fit your hangers will stay in place.

It may not look beautiful - but it works

An elastic bunge stretched from one end of the rail to the other and make sure your coathangers go between the elastic and rail - bingo. Neat and efficient.

The problem is caused by the clothes 'swinging' in the wardrobe as you move, the simple solution is hang every other one with hanger the opposite way that means that they hold each other on the rail.

Hi all, regarding the clothes falling off the rail, we had the same problem all on the floor, I bought a curtain wire fastened it with the hooks on each end of rail above the rail, coathanger fit under it and don't move brill.

We've never experienced this problem, why?

Could it be that we carry the clothes in a case in the car !

My 2 T shirts and 1 pair of shorts would be in serious danger of being suffocated by the Girlie stuff should they fall to the floor and be engulfed.

I like the sound of the simple alternate hanging idea by Plotter and Lesley.

Seriously though, do many people load the wardrobe before traveling? it just seems like another avoidable weight, probably carried higher up in the caravan contributing to less stability.

yep that exactly what we do, also have laundry basket in awning, when leaving site it then that sits in the boot, till its fast track to the machine at home, again fill up the car first.

All I do is put the hangers on the rail (no cost) then with my little delicate hands squeeze the hook impossible to take off. Cost nothing.

I never see what the problem is!!! I certainly don't pack anything in cases.

That is what my caravan is for. he he he
