Every thing is connected up, except the bit that says batt. chg. , that is left un attached...?

Can someone tell me if its ment to be linked up, and if so, where should the wire go?

electrics really confuses me!

any help would be great!

Hello Hew,

I am sorry to rather negative about this, but if you are not confident about electrics, or any other type of service, then for safety give the job to a professional.

Incorrectly wired 12V can be dangerous, not so much from electric shock, but there is enough energy in a battery to melt wires and cause a fire.

It looks like its a sensor to monitor the alternator level. It will only allow the leisure battery to charge from the car alternator when there is spare capacity at the alternator, i.e. the car battery takes preference in the charging sequence.

But thats about as much as I can tell you.

If you want to continue the DIY route then you really need a wiring diagram of the caravan. There are too many unknowns.

Its really impossible to say Hew without knowing the actual circuit and you would need to buzz the wire though to find out where its coming from.

Sorry I can't be more specific but it really is a "how long is a piece of string question"
