Commercial Vehicles on Campsites

Hi Everyone

My Husband has just been offered a new job, which comes with a brand new VW Transporter Kombi (5 seat version).

I know that the Caravan Club and several other sites have rules and regulations with regards to commercial vehicles being on site. The van will not be sign written, just plain white and it will also have front and back windows so looks more like a people carrier type vehicle.

Does anyone think this will cause us a problem towing our caravan with the Transporter.

Many thanks, and not sure whether I posted under the correct section so apologies in advance.

Most 'vans' are considered to be an 'eye-sore' on Caravan Club sites. The Transporter does seem to fall into this catagory. Ask the site if they will allow it: I doubt if you will be successful but it's worth trying!

I tow with a Kia Sedona 7 seater - six really unless the seventh passenger is slim across the hips - as do many others with no problems on C.C. sites. I know the Sedona is slightly smaller. Also it is not unusual to see signwritten vehicles advertising the business of the owner/driver. Maybe the condition of such a vehicle has more to do with restrictions - a rust bucket belching exhaust fumes might be frowned upon.

I think the wardens discretion comes into play: I have been asked to park outside sites when I had a car with my employers name on the boot lid. (picky council run site)

Other sites, including CC, allow vans if they are unlettered, and I see a lot of foreigners travel this way to carry all the luggage etc., on long holidays.

As long as there is no business name, and it's not a panel van, I would hope they allow you on. Phone ahead tho' and explain the vehicle. As long as you are not carrying on business they can't really stop you, morally!
