Hi we purchased a compactalite 250 porch awning back in June, it is really easy to put up and ideal for a weekend way but we have a huge problem, IT LEAKS! The first time it leaked along the awning rail but we thought that this was normal as some fabric needs to stretch etc when it gets wet for the first time but after been out a third time it now leaks along the seams across the roof. Has anyone else had this problem as retailer knew which awning it was without saying which one we had, there answer was to use some sealing stuff which we are not really happy about so would love to konw if anyone else has had the same problem.

We have a sunncamp 260 & that come with a tube of seam sealer.

Most of the early awnings of this type did leak along the seams you could try returning it to the dealer as not fit for purpus

Or try the leak sealer route

Hi

We have a similar type porch awning and we have experienced the same problems. At first I was really annoyed because everything else about the awning was just what I wanted ie size, weight, easy to put up etc. So rather than give up on it, which was my first reaction, we used the seam sealer as instructed by the company who sold it to us and it's been fine since. In spite of torrential rain over the last few weekends the seam over the door is fine.

My point is I'm glad for the sake of a couple of pounds for the seam sealant and 30 minutes effort to apply it, that I persevered. As my husbands solution was to send it back and spend a lot more money on a more expensive awning.
