Confused: which mains water connector

After recently purchasing a new(er) car ('03 Volvo S60 SE D5 auto), we took the plunge and replaced our '91 Elddis Mistral XL with a '04 Abbey Archway Royale 520.

Now the confusing part; we're looking at booking a site that offers Service Pitches, and we're a little stumped with what we need.

We could do it the 'messy' way with an Aquaroll Mains Adaptor, but as we've also got an inboard tank, that seems a little unneccessary.

The 'flap' on the side of our van seems to be a Truma Compact Crystal 2, and we currently drop a Carver Thames into the Aquaroll.

Do I need to use a Crystal Waterline mains adaptor, or can I use a Whale Aquasource, which seems to be more cheaply available? I've no idea what will connect to my van other than the Waterline mentioned in the handbook.

Is one any better than the other?

Or should I steer clear of this type of system altogether?

Thanks in advance,

Confused of Milton Keynes.

The safest way is using the Aquaroll as a reservoir, fed by the mains, but drawn into the van by the conventional pump.

Van water systems are not built to withstand mains pressure if the reducer in the mains adaptor fails, and will blow almost every joint apart inside the van.

Hi

Damian is right with this one. A friend had a direct feed with pressure reducer system and I was using the aqua roll system on the same site and after a day out we came back to his van with a blown joint and water all over the bunk area, where as our was fine. Would recommend the aqua roll.

Agree - use the aqua roll, but make your own adaptor. assuming you have a 40litre aquaroll you will find that a standard plumbing type Torbeck ball valve will fit through it. Get a spare cap, remove the retainging strap and cut a suitable central hole. Test the cap on the roll and mark the "12 oclock" position on the cap when fully tight. Make sure the torbeck swings up and down in line with the mark. Fit a 1/2" hozelock or similar hose adaptor nozzle onto the valve and there you are - all for under

Hi MrT

If your Abbey has the onboard tank with the switch by the door that fills the tank from the Aquaroll, you will be able to keep your on board tank topped up from the Aquaroll and at the same time the Aquaroll will refill from the mains, best of both worlds.
