Connecting 12v TV

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice about connecting a TV to the 12V supply in our caravan (due to inconveniently placed mains point). We have a small TV with a 12V jack input on the back, the mains pack supplies 12v, 2A. The 12V sockets in the caravan say 12V 10A.

Is this going to be OK or do I need to do something to make it safe for the TV?
Thanks.

Hi Crosswind, the 12 socket markings of 12 volt 10 amp, means this is the max power the socket can supply, it will have a 10 amp fuse somewhere in the caravan for the power circuit. just as an indication, not reality, you could run 5, 12 volt 2 amp , tv's from that one socket.
You are safe to run your tv from that.
Hutch.

That's great, that's what I thought but didn't want to try it without getting another opinion.. So just getting correct polarity on the jack should be all I need to worry about? Sorry for all the questions, don't want to end up causing any damage.

Polarity is essential. You don’t say what type of caravan you have. Modern ones have the bayonet type that plugs into the cigarette lighter types of sockets. Older ones had a two pin plug. If the latter you can buy a converter.

Yeah, we have the two pins.. I have plugs for them and am happy to wire it up. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't gonna cause any surprises!

I totally agree, Google's all very well but it can only tell you what someone wrote, not have an actual conversation about it!
