corner steadies

Ive seen pictures of various solutions but am unsure which is the most suitable.

Im talking about when youre corner steady wont reach the ground due to site conditions and the plot being uneven etc.

What do people prefer to put under the steady. Ive seen options from blocks of wood, to coffee tins filled with foam.

And although its an 'how long is a peice of string' question, but how often do you find yourself needing to prop up your corner steadies?

I always carry a selection of wooden blocks of different thicknesses, to use as necessary. I can't imagine that a coffee tin filled with foam is strong enough to carry the loads which may be encountered.
I nearly always use at least the thinner blocks, if only to spread the load and stop the steadies from sinking into soft ground.

It's surprising how often we need blocks Andy.
I have a couple of house bricks and last week I managed to scrounge a couple of 4" x 4" wooden blocks from a mate who had some spare offcuts.
Similar wooden offcuts are always available from diy outlets who sell timber or from timber merchants.
Because we often go on C&CC rallies the pitches tend not to be level and I almost always have to use levelling ramps and then steady blocks under the jockey wheel and at least one set of steadies to level the caravan fore & aft.
In case my comments are misunderstood I never use the corner steadies to level the caravan, just ramps and / or the jockey wheel.

I carry 5 pieces of 6" x6" x 1 3/4" hard wood blocks. They can be used one on top of the other or separately. The 5th one is for the jockey wheel.
I also have a set of the carafoot plastic feet permanently attached to the steadies.

Ive got the plastic feet and a ramp (and chocks) for leveling it but i havent got anything for the steadies if they wont reach the ground.

I'll see if i can pick up some blocks of wood as some of you have.

Basic marine ply blocks for level conditions, then off cuts of various thicknesses for different conditions. Also collected a few samples of decking from lawns each year.

I use xtratherm insulation (like kingspan) in 100,150 thick cut in to 150 by 250 pieces it has silver foil on both sides.
I have four of each size thing is they dont weigh anything.
