Now I don't want to upset Colin or others from Wales. But for me Cornwall wins hands down every time, but Pembrokshire is lovely!
Coming from near Cardiff, I should be biased, but I'd say there's nothing between them. Both areas have lovely coastlines and welcoming people. Alternate.....

In terms of geology and climate, they're very similar.

Cornwall's a little warmer but not much, it's a lot busier though.

Pembrokeshire would be my choice.

In recent times Trevornick, as I'm a "holiday golfer". But we have been to many other sites in the area and around Mevagissey and other places.

My Grandfather was Cornish and we have family in Cornwall still.

Hi Joanne - there are both similarities and also differences - there that has confused you. Although I am from south Wales I would like to think that I am impartial in so much that there are nice areas/ beaches/scenary in both areas. However my wife, family and I have been to Cornwall on three occassions and did not enjoy ourselves as we found it very expensive - their main industry is the tourist industry and as it is seasonal they have to make the most while they can - who would blame them? It was also wet and cold on each visit. Pembrokeshire is beautiful and apart from the little industry around the Haven it is virtually unspoilt scenery and as nature intended. It is also not so expensive as Cornwall. The weather tends to be better in Pembrokeshire and all in all I would plump for Pembrokeshire.

I've been to both area's and realy they are both as beautifull in their own way.

Pembrokeshire from St Davids round to Solva is breath takingly beautiful.

Fowey esturary is too. Car parking is a bit problematic at peak times though.

Both have great eating places that don't dent the pocket (meal for two, 3 coarses with drinks under

I have been going to Cornwall for the last ten years, until I discovered Wales. Wales is as beautiful, not half as busy and you you don`t get ripped off on their car parks etc !!!

Hi Joanne to recommend a site without further knowlege of your life style is very difficult ie do you have young or teanage children to cater for or is just you and your partner? Are you looking for a quiet site or a "hi de hi" type of site? Will you have a dog with you? Are you a member of either the CC or C&CC? etc. There are many sites in the west Wales area which offer different styles of holiday.

Jo-anne, As many people have commented, both these areas have stunning scenery and world class beaches. Cornwall needs to reel in the commercialism just a tad. There's only so much you can take regarding smugglers'gift shops and Merlin's cafe. The roads are much more congested than in Wales and also car parking is at a premium. Yet for all that we are regular visitors to Cornwall in our caravan. Wales as yet, has largely avoided the annual invasion of the Sloane Rangers, that have overrun areas such as the Camel estuary, notably Rock and Padstein. West Wales feels much more remote. More cockles and mussels than oysters and lobster. (Yet the markets of West Wales, such as those in Swansea and Carmarthen are far superior to any Cornwall has to offer, in my opinion. The home produce there, including meat, fish and veg are outstanding.) I think the most beautiful area of all though, is the Gower peninsular just west of Swansea. Many have likened it to the Enid Blyton country of the Famous Five. A bit of a cliche, but appropriate. Unfortunately, good caravan sites on the Gower are rarer than hen's teeth, otherwise I'd go there every time. Hope this helps, George T.

Regarding sites I would agree with Klarky, however the other side of the coin is that Kiln Park is within walking distance into Tenby whereas Cross Park is a fair way out of town and will require either the car or public transport.

Hi Jo-anne, We almost always stay on Caravan Club sites. Trewethett Farm near Boscastle is a fantastic site. It is terraced and has the most beautiful views imaginable. Merrose Farm near St. Mawes is also a gem. We are going there this year for a week before going to the Godrevy site near Hayle. We are looking forward to the fortnight already. This year we are going to travel back in the evening and avoid the horrendous jams we got caught in two years ago. Best Wishes, George T.

As everyone, says Pembrokeshire is lovely and has the benefit of being closer to you than Cornwall. We tend to go to Pembrokeshire for Whitsun as its a great place to go with the minimum of fuss and bother for us travelling from near Leominster in Herefordshire. We stay at Kiln Park. It does get busy on Bank Holidays and its expensive but I just love to be able to walk along the beach into Tenby on a sunny evening. That for me is pure magic.

Cornwall is beautiful but is more crowded, its a pig of a drive down at times, especially around the traffic black spots like Bodmin but we go down there every five years or so. The area around St Ives is great. Good campsite at Polmanter. Hope this helps. Have a great holiday wherever you go.

If you are going in high season you can forget what the satnav says. Go at the peak time and getting to Cornwall is a nightmare. George T. We leave at 4.ooa.m. from the Oxford area, but have still queued the other side of Plymouth. Some of the hills are quite steep and I can still smell the burning clutch now... Oh Joy!! George T.
