A couple of days ago i decided to give the van a good wash got the step ladders out and set about the roof (i only usually clean the sides).

On the roof there are four metal brackets ,looks like the mounts for a satalite dish or solar panel.Each one has a screw holding it down.

The problem is two of the screws are very rusty what would be the best thing to do. Remove the screws and replace with stainless steel,remove the brackets and seal the holes with a blanking plate or leave alone and see what happens.

Your advice please.

Hi Lindsay - I would remove the old screws and brackets and replace with stainless steel screws and washers carefully bedded down into a good quality non hardening sealant available from most caravan accessory dealers - John
