I've recently bought a 1991 Abbey 214 GTS and have a crack in the shower tray. Has anyone any ideas on how to fix it? I've seen a few marine fillers/resins from Plastic Padding for use below the water line and wonder if they may be any good
Colin, Yes I've realised that and this will be inspected and attended to when I take out the tray as I think the repair will stand up better if done from the undersideDerrick - I don't want to be a doom and gloom merchant but I would have a good look at the timber floor of the bathroom before repairing/renewing the shower tray. If the tray has been leaking for some time the floor may be damaged and need repairing.
Ray, I would love to fit a new one but problem is the age of the van and the tray is a very specific shape. Cosalt who originally made Abbey sold out to Swift in 1993. I'm currently trying to contact Cosalt to see if they sold the rights of their mouldings to a plastics company who may!! still have one lying around. I am also in touch with two or three breakers to try to get a good secondhand onederrick, If you are going to the trouble of taking t out perhaps it would be best to fit a new one, price and availability being reasonable of course.
I have been told that the 'glue' that is used in the manufacture of double glazing frames is the stuff to use. A visit to a local double glazing company may provide more info.

Many Thanks Trevor,Hi Derrick; I have a similar problem, and have not yet fixed it, however I have 'bookmarked' the following URL, which you may find useful:
http://www.lycoseshop.co.uk/epages/caravanpanels_com.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/caravanpanels.com/Categories/parts19
I have also considered taking the shower tray out and using it to form a mould so I can produce one in GRP, which would be much stronger in any case. If the company on the URL above does not do it, I am sure others will provide this service if only you can find them.
Enjoy your holidays,
Trevor M
