I i've just found a small hairline (abt 2mm) crack emanating from the bolt that holds on the roof rack of our motorhome, should i be worried? If so who should i contact?

Thanks

Harry,

Is the crack 2mm wide or 2mm long first of all ?

It is possible that this is a stress crack caused by very slight movement from the roofrack. Depending on what material the roof is, ie glass fibre, abs, etc will depend on the type of repair.

I would try to work out what could have caused the crack and then drill a very small hole at the end of the crack, this will stop the crack from getting any longer.

Best bet to take the vehicle to a specailist for the repair unless you are good with resins etc !

it's long not wide, don't know what type of material the roof is, I guess fibre glass. It looks like the nut was over tightened hence the crack, but you could be right it could be movement. Any body know of a repair specialist in or around the Sheffield area?

Thanks for the response!
