Creaking Joints

Hello , After some sound advice from the members of this group I changed my friction pads and WOW what a difference, the caravan had hardly any noticeable sway, brilliant. The only problem was a loud creaking when we approached the site, mainly when manoeuvring into position. I am not sure but do I need to lightly sandpaper the tow ball on the car? Thanks in advance.
Michael.

The tow ball needs to be clean, so if it has residue of paint or rust then lightly clean it with fine emery paper. After that thoroughly clean it with brake and clutch cleaner, remembering to clean the friction pads as well, as they may have picked up muck from the hitch.

PS - my joints creak as well, but that's down to my age. I'm currently having a lager to try to lubricate them.

Creaking during slow manoeuvring is quite common, even with a totally clean towball and pads as you are trying to move a clamped towball.
Release the pad lever to remove the pressure before slow manoeuvring and no more creaking.
