It is so nice these days to be able to report a good buying experience with all the negatives that we seem to endure but we have just had the best service we have had in the 9 years we have been caravanning.
We decided to go to our dealer who we had previously purchased 5 brand new vans from to have a look at the coachman pastiche, we where not happy with the ace we had and really wanted to have a 530/4 fixed bed, on arrival we had only been in the van for 5 minutes when a sales man came in and recognised us as past customers, my family have had a total of 9 new vans in 5 years from this dealer. We advised him that we where only looking as we had intentions of buying from the show unless he could tempt us with a deal we could not refuse. the usual conversation ensued and he said if we left the mover on the ace and p/x the awning he would supply the new pastiche with a second hand mover and last years model awning for £4100.we trusted the dealer as we where very good customers but we decided not to place an order.
When I got home I rang Campbell's caravans in Preston and asked if they would like to quote for the van, a chap called matt took all the details and rang back within ten minutes to say that unfortunately they could not do a deal on a pastiche as they had non but where able to do the same deal money wise on a coachman vip 530 with a brand new mover and a brand new awning, it may not sound much but the deal worked out to be over £1000 better value than my previous dealer.
We accepted the offer and placed an order over the phone to collect the van two weeks later, on arrival to collect we where treated to the best customer service I have experienced in caravans, we where immediately shown to our new van and despite being over 1 hour late to collect it we found Mark in despatch to be first class. He had another customer waiting but insisted on going over the full van with us he would not be rushed and would not leave anything without showing us how it worked. Over the next 1 hour we felt completely familiar with the van and very pleased with the way we where treated. We where then shown the motor mover and given a demonstration before being left with a big area to play with it once again this was something we have never experienced, its usually "there's your van there's your keys see in a few years".
We had cause to visit the service centre due to a small fault that cambells wanted to rectify before it got any worse and again we where treated very well, the fault was dealt with and two missing items ordered without question, once again a very welcome change from having to chase everything for month on end.
From the caravan the awning and the service centre everything has been dealt with in a caring and professional way which has restored my faith in dealers and we give cambells at kirkham top marks and a very big thank you.
