Can anyone enlighten me on what a 'Q' means on the year of manufacture in my CRIS number?

I'm guessing that its a pre 92 van thats been registered. If so, is there an easy way to find out what the real year of manufacture is?

I was always under the impression that there was a letter amongst the numbers in the serial no. of the van which should be affixed to the caravan somewhere which corresponded to the "Year letter" of car registrations under the old registration system.

I had this problem. The Q means year unavailable or unknown, or pre 1992, stolen, etc.

My Swift Challenger has the year of manufacture stamped on the draw bar.
