Collecting new van from private seller on Monday. Van is cris registered of course and the name and address is the same as the property at which the caravan is located at but it is any proof that no finance on van? Or should I still do a HPi / cris check to make sure, if so, which is better to do?

Thanks.

You will still need to do an HPI check. CRIS only shows the last 'reported' registered keeper, similar to a car V5c registration certificate.

Re my previous reply, the insurance article in the May edition of PCv (page 103) says:
Pay a small fee to CRiS to check that the caravan hasn't been reported stolen, written off, or has outstanding finance.

So the certificate on its own does not guarantee the above itself, you need to pay for a check.
