My submersible pump has stopped working. I think we let it run dry which I assume has damage the pump.

Is there anyway I can confirm this ?

Can I repair it ?

If not who has the cheapest replacement ?

Bob, if you have let it run dry, then it is probably beyond saving.

If it was working last time you used it, and has stopped over the winter, it may just be stuck, try turning the impeller at the bottom, after removing the gauze filter.

You could try applying 12v directly to the pins of he plug, carefully!

If it is stopped fully, they are not repairable, but you do not have to replace the whole item, you can get just the pump and replace that, if you are handy with a few tools.

Personally I would replace as a full unit to get rid of the old water pipe, it is surprising how much algae and slime they have inside!!

Your local dealer will have them, or try looking on E-Bay, but they are not cheap anywhere

Thanks all for the advice. I have just tried 12 volts directly to the pump and it does work. Where to next ?

I agree with Damien regarding complete replacement, when ours developed a leak in the rubber pipe i had to do a tempory repair as we were abroad, and found the inside of the pipe disgusting, how we did not go down with something i will never know.I would advise campers to have a good look at this item.

Bob, sorry, just read your comment.

As you have found the pump works ok on 12v direct, then it is time to look at the pins on the plug, maybe they are closed up and need a small flat bladed screwdriver to very gently open up the pins by gently easing the blade into the + shaped cuts in the ends.

Also, check for 12v on the socket, with a multimeter when a tap is operated, if no 12v, check the connection inside the van on the rear of the socket.

Hello Bob

I had a very similar problem,if its not the pins on the pump then first get a volt meter and then turn on the tap with the pump disconnected and check if there any power to the plug where you put the pump if there is you should then check the crimp joints along the wires from the pump to the taps and replace if any are corroded disconnect the power supply when you do this,if there is no power to the pins when the tap is on then check the connections to the micro switches, please let us all know how you get on,also look back in the topics for annoying water supply.

Regards

Roy
