Crystal Thames Water Pump

Our pump has packed up so I have been looking on the net for a replacement. There seems to be more than one type of this pump, can someone tell me whether they will all fit or are they different. They are classed as Mk1, Maxi. The caravan is a 2005 Lunar Quasar. Thanks in advance. Denise

Hello Denise,

The Thames pump was the more powerful option for the Crystal system. So for similar performance you need to look for a pump that offers 7 or more litres a min flow rate.

Any submersible pumps you can find should fit, but you will need to be able to re-use the hose and cable connection from your original pump.

It can be fiddly feeding the power cable through the hose, so when removing the old one, tie some string to the wire and as you pull the old one out it will pull the string into the bore, then tie the new wire to the string and pull it back through.

Denise there are different fittings available where the pump plugs in to the side of the caravan and there are different flow rates for the pumps. On our 2006 Abbey the Maxi pump is definitely the right one. I bought a Thames by mistake and the output was quite poor. After checking with Truma they advised that the Maxi has the higher output so if you have a choice of pump go for the Maxi. You could have a look at Ebay. Lots of pictures on there should help identify which caravan fitting is the same as yours. I just had a look and there are quite a few on there.
