Culkein Drumbeg Road

Has anybody travelled along this road from the B869 and would they know whether I can take our caravan to end of the road without causing problems for local folk.

Shouldn't be a problem. Wouldn't fancy doing the short-cut from Achiltibuie to Lochinver(via Inverkirkaig) with the caravan though, i used to deliver in that area and that road was similar to a roller coaster at Alton Towers!

Thanks Gavin, i did not know until i looked at the map that there were two Culkein in that part of Scotland. We are heading for the one at Drumbeg not far from Oldany Island coming from the direction of Nedd .If you have been that way would appreciate any comments.

Robert,

Snap !! We are also wanting to use that road.....travelling from Lochinver to Clachtoll. There is a caravan site there which gets excellent reviews.....if Gavin has any comments they would be appreciated.

Hello Maureen, we are coming from East Sussex to Culkein in September. Our plan at moment is maybe week getting there, 2 weeks at Culkein and if weather is favourable week coming home.Someone told us the weather is very windy at that point at the best of times, have you heard anything to the contary.

Robert,

We live in Scotland and have done two trips to the very north but have never visited Clachtoll before. It looks so lovely that it is on the list for a visit in May.....I've even got a photo of the beach as my desk top!! Just love it up there.

You'll be ok Robert, it's single track with plenty lay-bys and not much traffic to worry about. Great part of the country to chill out,

Gavin

Hi Maureen,

as long as you don't take the unclassed road from Achiltibuie and go into Lochinver on the A837 first then out the back road to Clachtoll,

Cheers,

Gavin.
