Can anyone suggest a good site that is situated on the North West coast between Carnforth and the Lake District region (not Blackpool)! I like sites that have clean well maintained toilets/showers, a shop, bar/restaurant, swimming pool etc. I have visited the Holgates website at Carnforth which looks very good, any comments on this particular site.

We've stayed at Holgates and found it to be a great site with everything you say your looking for.

Just got back from Stanwix Park (Stanwix.com)(Silloth-on-solway)the entertainment is good for children & adults,the complex holds indoor swimming pool,fitness studio and bars etc. The Heated shower blocks are kept in top condition and are close at hand, The Onsite shop sell all the usuals and the prices are not too bad for once. We used the M6 to J41 them onto the B5305 and the B5302 into siloth then follow the clear signes.

We too have found Holgates site to be very good and would recommend it to anyone. The facilites are great and the food potions are enough to satisfy anyones appitite. On the other side of the coin we have stayed at the Haven site up at Flookborough and found that the site in general was very neglected. We only stayed for a long weekend and the toilets weren`t cleaned at any time during our stay, even though there was sick in one of the sinks (nice!) The site could be very nice but it is in dire need of restoration and touring caravans seem to be treated as second class citizens. Will not be going back to that site again.

Lakeland site @ (Haven)Flookborough, Wot a Mess, It was a Swomp and that was in the toilet block.Then there is the hard sell to Buy a Static for over the odds every where you look. Never again.

Stanwix is fantastic been there the last 2 years with 2 grandchildren superb facilities kids well entertained would recommend
