Franklin if you over fill it can blow the plug out of the rubber drain tube, this once happened to me but luckily it was when l had just filled it on arrival and spotted it, had to mop it out and dry with paper towels, can't be sure this is your problem but this can happen.

A while back there were posts on here about a similar problem. I think it was said that some of the toilet cisterns were faulty causing problems like yours. Replacement was the cure not what your dealer has told you.

Perhaps Mr Mods could pinpoint the article. Sorry I can't find it this morning. The search engine here is ???????

Cheers

hi just got my van back from my dealer they said it was all my fault and that i had been traveling with a full flush tank i read my coachman manuel when i purchaced the van and it advised me not to so i allways travel with it empty they said they had removed the toilet and sealed the offending seal and that i would have to pay i have refused because when i took the van in the receptionist said that coachman had declined the claim because it was thetfords fault but they would claim from them i was told by the receptionist that my refusal to pay meant that the caravan was no longer under warranty for any claims when i pointed out that the note in the user manuel was only advisory she said that i should have ignored that and read and inwardly digested all of the manuels given to me when i first got the van there are some 26 books with well over 1000 pages of technical data as she always did this so be warned when you take your van in for a warranty job even though you think that you are not going to be charged and have given them no permission to carry out work that will cost you anything if you have not read all your technical manuels and therfore receive a bill and refuse to pay your warranty will be null and void franklin (detailes of my dealer are avl please give me your e, mail address franklin

Hi, I too have a 2008 VIP Coachman but all season I keep finding pink flush in the toilet locker and of course keep drying it out.

Could this be the same problem I wonder.

Watch out Coachman you could be losing some street cred here.

Hello Franklin.

Your report of your treatment by this dealer is very disturbing and a number of fronts.

Firstly, Your warranty is established in law through the sale of Goods Act. A seller cannot cancel it. It is automatically part and parcel of the contract you establish when you agree to purchase any new retail product and depending on the reasonable life expectancy of the product can last up to 6 years.

In essence the warranty confirms that a product is free from design , materiel or workmanship defects at the point of sale. It also confirms the product will be fit for its intended purpose.

These are your statutory rights, and they must not be confused with the manufactures guarantee.

A manufactures guarantee is a separate contract between you and the manufacturer (not the dealer) again the dealer cannot unilaterally cancel the guarantee. That can only be done by the manufacturer who is the other party in the contract.

I think you need to report the incident to trading Standards.

I also think you should seek professional legal advice about how to present a claim through the SoGA legislation. The CAB may be able to help or you might get quicker results if you see your own solicitor.

A note of caution though. You have not indicated how much you were being asked to pay for this repair, but it may well be that to pursue it through the courts may cost more than the value of the repairs, and there is no guarantee that you will win or be be awarded your costs.
