Just had my van serviced and have been advised that I have 90% damp in the roof area above my shower. Can anyone advise what that means or questions to ask the service centre please. Sounds bad to me, but maybe not too bad?? Thanks.

It probably means that your shower roof vent has been leaking for a considerable time.
It has most likely rotted any wood in the vicinity and soaked the insulation and probably the ceiling board, all of which will need replacing as well as the cause of the leak being found and fixed.

Thanks for the quick reply. Ill check with the service centre tomorrow and go from there. Hopefully my insurance, caravan club, will cover it. Thanks again!

I don't think that's the sort of thing covered by insurance, unfortunately. Your only comeback is from the dealer you bought from, if recently.

Looks like I'm snookered then. I haven't had it serviced by them every year, so suspect their first come back will be exactly that. Looks like get a quote and cry time! I'll still try the insurance route in hope......

You are not tied to the dealership for servicing as long as it has been carried out by an approved workshop or technician each year then dependant on the water ingress warranty how many years from new the dealership would be responsible for the repair.

Maybe not as bad as I thought. Contacted the technician who reported the damp. He told me that there is no structural failure at fault. It's going back in mid Sept for another look and he seemed confident that a fix will be carried out.

Thanks for all the advice!
