Damp: Recomend a sealant?

ive got a small damp patch on the wall of my ABI elegance 450. It looks like its coming from behind the awning or front window aluminium edging strip. I,ve got to remove the strips and

reseat and seal them. Can any one recomend a sealant that is the one to use for this job?

David,

Try a product like "Anabond non-curing butyl mastic putty" which is also available as a tape for long runs - such as a complete awning rail. Mastic putty is perfect for what you want to achieve.

Non-curing actually means it takes years for it to form a surface skin, and it stays really flexible during (and beyond) that time, so as your van moves or flexes, the joint stays water tight.

Make sure you clean off all the old mastic, and if someone used silicone in the past - get that off too.

Don't use DIY silicone, the acid released during the cure process etches and eventually dissolves aluminium.
