Damp trap spilled on seats. Need advice.

I took my caravan to the local dealers today for it's annual service and I forgot to remove the damp traps. The trapped water and sludgy crystals have went everywhere. They are saying that it is near impossible to clean it out and that when dry the residual crytals are always going to attract damp to them. Any thoughts? The van is less than a year old and I feel quite sick about it. Thanks. Andy Bryson.

Only a thought but when dry the crystals should vacuum up fairly easily. (perhaps!) Suggest getting the heating going, get it as dry as possible then get the vacuum out.

Forgive me for being thick - but what are damp traps and where are they? Denise
Hi Denise,

you buy them from any caravan shop/Towsure they are containers

that absorb the moisture in the air into the crystals or gel,so hopefully avoiding any damp problems, we forgot this year and when checking the caravan in Jan we did find some damp on the carpets.they cost about

Hi, the crystals in damp traps are highly hygroscopic (water attracting)salts, sometimes caustic, you will find it difficult to dry them out without putting them in an oven, your best bet is to use a wet vacuum, splash the area with water then quickly vacuum it up, repeating the process untill al traces have gone and do a small area at a time.

Good luck!
