There was a French company, I think in the 80โs. They had flat barges. You towed there and they put your van on the barge. You then cruised up the river or canal and lived in the van. I fancied it but I have never seen it since.
Lovely concept. If you had the BMW amphib car you could tow it on water too and come out elsewhere.

The concept that I saw on Lake Knysna was very different. It was caravans mounted on a flat bottom barge. The barge had a small 15hp motor on it for casual boating. It was very stable and no such thing as waves on that lake. I am not sure if they still do them as this was back in the sixties.
I do remember the concept. It never took off when floated ) on the market (but it was never supposed to fly) but may be some new business might want to see if it would work now. The car brings back memories too.
