Anyway what I am looking for is the Manufacturing Date. The VIN consists of 4 capital letters, followed by 4 numerals, 1capital letter followed by 8 numerals. In all 17 characters.
If the 7th character is a letter then it was made in 2010 or after. If it is a number then it was made before 2010. The 10th character determines the exact year. A is 2010, B is 2011 etc or, if the 7th character is a number then A is 1980 etc until Y is 2000, then 1 is 2001,2 is 2002 up to 9 which is 2009.
Hope this is clear - all vin numbers are the same format.

Which doesn't correspond to the understood manufacturing date of 2009. If I include the first four alphabetical characters then my 7th becomes "1" and my 10th becomes "0". Don't ignore the first 4 characters. It's quite feasible for a 2010 model to have been purchased in 2009. My Bailey is a 2016 model but I purchased it in October 2015. Was the caravan ever registered in France?
