Dear All,
We have this afternoon deleted a thread entitled "Help Lost/Mislaid Posting" from the Practical Caravan forum because we believe that individual posts within it contravened the rules by which we ask all posters to abide, listed within "Forum Etiquette."
The thread referred to an ongoing dispute between a customer and caravan dealer, and we insist that all posters refrain from discussing such complaints on the forum, and instead go directly to the manufacturer.
We do this for very simple reasons; we have a legal obligation to ensure that posts which might be construed as defamatory or libellous do not appear on the forum. Whilst we trust our forum members to abide by these rules we do reserve the right to edit or delete posts when we find them, and we are obliged to do so when they are pointed out to us by a third party.
In this case whilst the latest post did not refer directly to any company by name, it was our belief that a strong inference was made which would leave nobody in any doubt as to the identity of the company concerned. It also made reference to a post, deleted earlier this week, in which an individual was referred to by name.
Practical Caravan is proud of its forums and is keen to ensure that its readers continue to be able to share experiences and enjoyment of our hobby. For this to continue however we must insist that our users abide by our code of conduct, and we continue to reserve the right to enforce this code through moderation or deletion of posts. We'll contact individuals who contravene the rules; however repeated breaking of the rules will leave us with no choice but to ban individuals from the forums.
Please help us to ensure that PCV's forums remain a thriving, vibrant part of our website for the enjoyment of all.
