Dethleffs caravans any history or experience

Hi all a member of the family is considering buying an old 1993 two berth Dethleffs caravan.

It looks very smart apart from the door being on the wrong side but apart from that I hardly know anything about them.

Has anybody ever owned one, have any knowledge of the company or its history?, any reports good or bad?

Plus any issues you can think of with the door being on the offside of the van

Any help or advice or knowledge would be gratefull.

Cheers
John

I have a 2008 model year Dethleffs Beduin 545V which I'm very happy with. I haven't found any major faults with it. The only complaint I've had is that the lounge table surface is rather thin and vulnerable to damage by a sharp object and a couple of blinds that snag a bit when operated. Otherwise, the standard of workmanship is good.
Back in 1990 I rented a Dethleffs Camper 530TK which we took up to Norway without any trouble.
Dethleffs is the brand within the Hymer Group that places a bit more emphasis on innovation and style compared to the Eribas which are perhaps a little more conservative. Otherwise, they are, model for model, about the same price and attract roughly the same sort of customer.
