Hi All

Thinking of going to Haven Devon Cliffs site, with our tourer, for a long weekend in May. Taking a 12 year old and dog, may take husband for towing purposes.

Any info on this would be great

Tks

i live in Devon about 30 minutes from Exmouth.

the above site is a large, busy, lively site.

Lots to do - amusements/rides/pools/bars...

commercialised haven site so if you like fun/people/plenty to do/noise - you will be fine.

if you want peace and quiet - avoid !

not sure if you intended taking the dog on the beach - i would check this out, having a dog myself - not a lot of beaches you can take them on down here in high season.

i agree with jo-anne, spoilt for choice in Devon, i would maybe go for a private site rather than a "haven" holiday camp.

but i suppose depends on what you are looking for.

The drive upto the tourer pitches is very steep at Devon Cliffs and is not easily tackled.

being going to devon cliifs for last 10 years ,great entertainment for the kids[all ages]but the touring facilites leave a lot to be deisred. they have been saying for the last 4 years that the touring field was going into the field behind with new facilites but it never seems to happen, this year will be our last time,no matter what the kids say!!!!!

Two very nice sites in Devon are Beverley Park and Widend. Bothe sites are close to Paignton. Beverley Park is a large site with excellent toilet/shower facilities and caters for all the family. There is no need to leave the site if you do not wish to. there are more than ample facilities for either rain or sun and also a large club house with good entertainment. It does tend to get fully booked early on because of the facilities. It also tends to get pricey as the high season approaches.

Widend is a quieter family run site with aclub house, outdoor swimming pool and small games room for children. It does not have the full entertainment package of Beverley Park (not hi-de-hi). The toilets/ showers are spotless. It is however far cheaper than Beverley Park. My wif and I have been going here for years as we enjoy the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere of the site.

You pay for whichever you prefer but both sites are first class in their own ways.

Thank you all for your replies on this site. I think we will give Devon Cliffs a miss and get the books back out.

We went to Haven in Blackpool about 1year ago, and just thought it was that particular site that was not very nice for tourers, but reading some of the replies on hear, maybe it is just Haven sites in general.

Tks again guys

All Haven sites (which are no longer owned by the same company as before) are busy ,noisy all singing and dancing sites but are only really aimed at static vans, and the purpose of having tourers is to give 'an audience' for the static van salesmen to pitch at to convert them away from tourers.

Hi I'm a new member on here from Barry, south Wales.

We have just come back from Devon cliffs,

All I can say is that we wont be returning there. It is marked as the haven / british holidays flagship park, however we have only been to kiln park which is with tha same group and found this much better and more tourer friendly.

I will be contacting the touring manager at devon cliffs tomorrow morning to complain on the following notes.

1 - Been woken at 8am by the sound of machine guns which were being fired by the M.O.D training team on the cliff. We wouldnt have minded if we had been warned of this before our arrival.

2 - No soap in any of the dispensers in the toilet blocks. As you could imagine I was not to happy after just emptying the toilet casette. (Bearing in mind I had told reception of this 3 days prior to this)

never had any problems withe the gun fire.it can be quite entertaining when thet do night exercises, but i totally agree with you about the toilet blocks. The park seems to have had money spent on it in every other part of the park execpt the touring area.has i said on my other comment this will be the last time we go this year we have had enough, but we let the kids choose and they wanted to go back this year !!!! never again.
