So how do we all get on in different areas,
I started this as a wind up , and realised it was wrong, but have anyone really had any bad experiences within the UK with dialects.

The only dialect i have problems with is my own. I have one of those surnames thats easy enough, if you listen. But usually we talk on the phone to companies that either employ halfwits or worse halfwits that cant even get it right when you spell it for them and having a strong East Lancs accent doesnt always compute with southerners. The best name i have had to date and this is true

Mr Wombat.

Had to do a telephone interview for a software engineer I needed. He was in Glasgow, I was in Milton Keynes.

Surprised not to hear a Glaswegian accent but a soft West Indies voice. Interview went well so had to arrange for him to fly down for a face to face.

Somewhat bemused when he turned up and looked just like....how can I put this....an indigenous Englishman.

Born in the UK but parents moved west in early years.

We got on well and he got the job.
