Dipping our toes ......

As we are now in a position to travel more extensively I wonder where we should start when hoping to travel (through France and Spain) for a 3+ month period. We are looking to the winter months next year to do this. Where do we start with our researches? Any help would be much appreciated.

hi ann try conacting c&cc carefree there are quite a few site for winter sun in there. also club rallies we used to indapendently but tried a rally for the firs time this year we enjoyed it so very much made a lot of super freinds and are doing it again this year they will book ferries and overnight stops for you.we are going to quateria/portugal and near valencia/spain travelling portsmouth/bilbao all the best have a super time peter

I would suggest you take an additional E/L lead when you go to Quarteria, I had to borrow and unless they have refurbished, the toilet blocks are not brilliant. The site is well placed for walking into the town. There is a great market. Hope you enjoy, we are off to La Manga

I'd suggest you buy the Alan Rogers guide 'Open all Year' which lists site which have winter opening. Also, the green Michelin Campsite guide to France. That way you won't have the problems of another 'poster' who found few sites open. Winter in northern France can be very cold indeed, as it can in the mountains further South - so suggest you 'rush' through France on the way down, then slowly meander back up when the weather is warmer.

Look here for winter sites in France: http://www.touringandtenting.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10781&view=findpost&p=171811
