Hi,

I've got a Status 530 directioanl aerial and am heading down to the south coast this weekend. Having read the varius articles on the switchover down there, I just wondered what people's experience was of this type of aerial sucessfully receiving the digital signal?

I'm a bit pessamistic that I'll need to buy a more conventioanl aerial to get a good signal.

Any views greatfully received

A

Hi Andrew

Provided that you can get a good digital signal i.e. no trees or large obstructions blocking the signal you should be ok.

We get digital tv via our status 530 and freeview box with no problems.

Thanks for that - maybe I'll be ok!

Hi Andrew ,

If you are going anywhere near Weymouth you will probably be on a none starter

When we were down there last we were told the only way to get digital was for residents to go satellite

After saying that if you on the Haven sites you will have to turn your aerial sideways on as the normal telly is transmitted in from the top of the hill

I hope this helps

Sir Roger

As said depends where on the south coast, we rally from New Forest to the south west and get good signals at the majority of sites with a 530.

When we have not neither have people with conventional aerials.

Thanks for that - sounds like a satellite dish may be on the shopping list

Andrew, livivng in the area there is no significant problem with digital signals (it is alot stronger than the previous one) as long as you have a good signal booster as Weymouth is sat in a bay, be mindful of your journey into weymouth, if you are coming from Dorchester they are doing major roadworks as you go around and down the hill in preperation os the 2012 olpmpics as Weymouth & Portland are the sailing centres for these games,
