dirty grab handles!

I have a 1997 swift baronette which I've had from new and love dearly. Only problem is that for some years now the grab handles have been going progressively blacker and mouldier looking. I can't shift it. Any ideas what to use or else what to paint them with because they are seriously spoiling the look of what is otherwise still a smart van.

If all else fails and you are then going to paint them, first i would try T-Cut to see if you can get them back to the origonal colour, if successfull give them a good wax polish.

Brasso is an alternative, but use it gently and keep wipeing the excess off to check you don't overdo it.

If you end up painting them i would rub down well, mask the areas and use a plastic paint aerosol.You may be able to remove the handles before working on them.

I used one of those green scouring pads on ours and they came up lovely.

Thanks very much for the advice. Van is in storage but will go armed with all your suggestions when we take it to Wales in a weeks time. Elbow grease at the ready!

Maggie I had the same problem on our Ace Supreme .I took the handles off rubbed them down and resprayed them, try Fiat 249 as your colour or put this out for the attention of Ash orAndy at Swift , most helpful

green scouring pads are the best I know for this job although remember a few coats of wax after you have used them
