Does anyone have a Power Step that they are looking to sell? We are considering buying one and if anybody has one they are not using, we would certainly be interested.

My husband is disabled and cannot climb the steps into our caravan. We have been looking for a suitable way of him gaining access. Does anyone know of a way, other than the Power Step, that would be of help.

We would be grateful for any suggestions.

I have got a hydraulic caravan lift for sale at the moment. We purchased it to get mum into the caravan but sadly we no longer need it.

It will run off a car battery and will lift a total of 21stone.. It has a platform to stand on and a hande for the rider to hold. The controls can either be opeerated by the rider or by an asistant and it also has an automatic cut out that you fit under the caravan so that when it gets to the right height it will stop. It has 2 removable stabilising feet but can also be bolted to the side of the van if you want.

You can contact me if you are interested

On my previous caravan we used to have a wheelchair ramp from a London taxi. I worked for the company who made these for LTI and was able to aquire one. I adapted it to provide access for those of us who couldn't manage steps too well.

I have also used a mobile hydraulic platform lift designed for industrial use as such this was available from Machine mart.

Apparatus for those with disabilities are very bespoke as the needs of every individual are so different.
When I was an apprentice at Henry Wiggin in Hereford (now called Wiggin Special Metals), we had a close liason with Westfields special school for the disabled. We made go-carts and hand pedal trikes so the kids could have just as much fun as able bodied people.

You could try asking your local engineering manufacturer's trade association or Technical college for advice as they often relish designing and making specialist equipment as it broadens the students minds and skill sets.

Good luck and have fun caravanning.
