I am strongly considering upgrading my header tank circulation pump for the in-line one. I just shopped for the new pump and required ‘S’ bend pipe needed. Total price £227.86 including delivery.

I then checked out if I could get them cheaper via club discount. It now comes to £371.46

They were both from different outlets but exactly the same parts.

It pays to shop around.

I found a similar issue with my Flojet water pump. In fact all leisure outlets were expensive and several couldn’t even give a delivery date. In the end I bought one from a pump specialist company that supplies many business sectors. Less than half the price of the best discounted leisure outlet, plus 36 hour delivery.

On more than one occasion we found the CAMC shop prices to be higher than other outlets even after the discount. Very occasionally you get a good bargain with CAMC.

No one outlet is always the cheapest. We have found what looked the best price in the CAMH site but other times you do better elsewhere, you just have to look at each purchase. Having said that we very rarely use the web except for odd things and find we have two pretty competitive outlets near us. We are not great web shoppers preferring to look at what we want in person although the bits here are just standard parts where you have no real choice of the part, so the cheapest supplier should be the best bet.

I just ordered the parts, it took me all day as where we are pitched in Cornwall seems to have had a massive dip in mobile internet connection today and we use two different providers.

But a word for Alde support. I phoned them to double check I was ordering the right parts. How refreshing, the tech support picked the phone up straight away and she knew her stuff.

ALDE have excellent support service and even better if you go to their premises.

While looking at the CMHC shop I spotted this example. Yes they are the 2021 version, but the price shocked me.

Two minutes of internet search found these identical items:

Buyer beware of course, but there is an expectation that the club works on behalf of it’s members to get good deals. Not everyone has the expertise to do a search. It disappoints me.

Either way still a lot of money for mirrors. Probably cheaper to have a wireless camera on the back of the caravan as I am told it is legal. You get a better view and can also see if there are any vehicles tucked in behind you especially on French or Spanish motorways,

Using single or a couple of examples proves only that shopping around works. Nobody is cheaper on everything, so the stores used as the cheapest here could be the most expensive on the next thing you want. I have certainly spotted bargains on the club shop site but they can be expensive on others.
I would not just accept a price from any of them before looking at the others, and frankly I think this is the way most people shop on the web these days.

Perhaps a new motto 'He who surfs wins'!
I know not everyone thinks the use of moisture absorbers/dehumidifies are valid, but over winter I use both these products as a precaution... Wilkos have the Unibond Aero 360 refills 2 for 6.00 and Netradol Odour Destroyer Gel pot at 1.25 - now compare those prices with either Amazon or Ebay for identical products - certainly another case of buyer beware!
And OUCH to the difference in prices for the mirrors almost spot on 40% cheaper than the 'discount' price is some saving!

.......the Milenco mirrors I'm using were a free gift from Practical Caravan magazine.

That was in the days when the mag hosted caravan rallies at Stowford Farm Meadows and where you could interact with the staff.
Quite a few forum members received mirrors for magazine contributions. :)

It was my point that shopping around works, like yourself, I always do, and in this case I saved £144 on just two items. Although I only used a couple of examples, there are many many more.

But my second, and for me more important point, there are many people who either don’t have that expertise when shopping on line. And/or put trust in the club to work on their behalf to get good or reasonable deals.

Hi Bill we cancelled our subscription when we moved home and started up with the subscription and the mirrors were a free gift :)

My spare whale pump had packed up so wanted replacement. Looking at prices from £70 to mid fifties. Saw one at £54 and ordered that . Was in Go Outdoors and they had one pump left at £45, got that but will lose p&p sending other one back

Possibly better to keep one as a spare as if one fails when on a remote site finding another might be difficult. I have had failures in my time, once in France, and that was a problem as we had no water on tap for several days. We have also had one stolen and the only dealer nearby only had a more powerful version which we had to Sellotape in place to keep it on. One dealer did say they were his best selling accessory, which tells you something about the reliability.

On our Lunar from brand new we went through about 4 Truma pumps luckily all replaced under warranty. I then bought the Whale version of the truma trigger and no more issues.
Currently we have a Whale pump and no issue with it and caravan is not almost 4 years old.
