Do new awnings new water proofing?

Hi We have bought a new awning and just wondering do these need water proofing, Or have they already be done?

you,re new awning will drip/leak especially around the stitching but will then seal itself "magic" mine did

Hi Peter,

Yes, they're already waterproofed.

Don't be alarmed if some water comes in the first time you use it. This is quite normal and the fabric will tighten up as soon as it dries. From then on you should be fine.

A couple of words of warning, don't ever use anything other than water to clean anything off, such as bird droppings, or you will destroy the waterproofing. Mud can be brushed off easily, once it's dry. Never leave a wet or damp awning folded up, if you have the misfortune to have to take it down in the rain - it will go mouldy. Open it up to dry as soon as you can.

The same advise if a dog cocks its leg on your awning, just swill it off with clean water
