Do you have to be a boring sado for this forum?

Chatting about towing weights, sink drainage and pets in vans can be rather dull, but inject a touch of humour and the odd disagreement makes it worthwhile even compulsive but there are a few users who are nothing but anoraks and just want the forum to be very straightlaced middle of the road, dull and boring and have been pressurising the mod to take steps. It has become a nanny state on this forum and this needs to be stopped before the dullards take over and it collapses

Much more input from you and most of the adults on this forum will probably loose the will to live!

If you can change and act sensibly then for goodness sake do so.

But please stop trying to be the "life and soul" of a party that just ISNT HAPENING!

Some of us want no more than technical input from others and a chat. We can do without the abuse and the bad language.

Well, actually towing weights are rather important, particularly if you are new to caravanning.

Sink drainage is critical too if the foul water is coming back up the pipes. Pets in vans where do I begin? We have two pole cats but they don't travel with us, we have a horse too, quite capable of giving us a tow off wet grass when the mondeo decides to wheel spin. And a faithful, ferocious dog who can take on the travelling community in the blink of an eye.

In all, the above is rather an important part of caravanning, don't you think?

I've said before that this is a virtual campsite where we get together for a laugh and a chat when not on a real site. I don't go caravanning to talk only about caravans so I do not expect to do it here either .I also wouldn't expect to argue and listen to abusive language when I'm away so feel theres no place for it here either. As long as the posts are 'clean' I can see no reason why the Moderator should butt in just because it has gone off track...Brian.

Brian

Yes it is actually when you stop in Appleby in Westmoreland, each year for the past 15 years, for the biggest gypsy horse fair in the world. (50,000 travelling people in the area in a very small village, and this is not a critiscism, just a fact). That's why I bought my caravan because I was fed up of paying for expensive accommodation as when the horse fair is on, it's classed as peak time both in hotels and b&b's.

Having had horses all my life I have built up relationships with the travelling community, inspite of the fact that the horse trade has declined dramatically since the 70's. They have ferocious dogs, so do I.

Does that answer your question?

Lisa

Not really an important part of caravaning then, just something important to you once a year!
Each to his/her own.

You must know the reputation the travellers have. If you have a decent car, leave a decent dog inside it, weather permitting, less likely to be stolen. Same for the caravan.

Oh, horror of horrors, I only go up to Appleby once a year and my dog comes into its own then. Just a coincidence, the dog I have is a good un. I am a qualified canine psychologist and I'm not going to comment on my dogs behaviour. It was a case of me take it on, or it ends up in the park in the sky.

Yep, it's useful dog for Appleby horse fair and a challenge for the other 11.5 months of the year. That's life.

I have to agree, nothing wrong with banter to bring a bit of life to a post after all even with our close friends we don't agree on everything. Do we not say anything then? I think not.
