We have just received quote from Brittany ferries and i am interested in any comments you may have

Cork to Roscoff on the Pont Aven (14 hour sailing so cabin necessary) for 2 Adults, 3 children and 1 infant

car and caravan under 7m sailing on 28/6/08 return 18/7/08 (peak season i know)

The price is 2300 euro which is roughly 1800 stg.

We dont have alot of options when sailing from Ireland to France unless we go via UK but with the kids so young we dont relish the journey from holyhead down south.

Do people pay this kind of money to get to France???

Thank you in advance...Brenda

Why are you considering the alternative of Hollyhead to southern UK if you are prepared to drive to Cork why not take the Rosslaire to Fishgaurd ferry and then through south Wales to a ferry port in southern England such as Dover,Poole or Plymouth? Personally for Brittany if you are concerned with young children I would cross from Plymouth. You could even consider a stop over for a night in south Wales. Very easy road through south Wales - almost all dual carraigeway or motorway. See reply under "best ferry to Brittany". I think you will find it a heck of a lot cheaper than

Irish ferries will be cheaper and they have got a new boat coming in a month (Oscar Wilde). Rosslare to Roscoff fares will be available any day soon and if they are too dear price Rosslare Fishguard and then LD Lines from Portsmouth or Southampton(I Think) to Le Havre.

Save Tesco vouchers if you can and they will help your fare to Fishguard.

I live in Ireland and Irish Ferries are always cheaper than Brittany Ferries but as they have just got a new boat for next year I have no idea about the prices for next year. They might increase a lot or not over other years. I know high season is very expensive but for us (2 adults car and caravan and berths) in May/June it works out about

Valerie what made me think that Brittany & Irish Ferries were the same company as they were advertising in the Brittany lounge in Roscoff so I assumed they were the same but named different for tax purposes, etc. Sorry if I am wrong and contradicted you without thought.
