I tow with a D4 AWD XC60 Auto - basically the same 5cyl diesel as the old D5s [Note: all Volvo engines in the 2nd Generation 60 & 90 series are 4cyl] My only comment would be to make sure you have the gearbox ATF changed. Volvo dealers will not do this as its "Sealed for Life", but its best to do it at least every 75k - more frequently if you tow a lot. Also get the Haldex oil changed if your is AWD. My Haldex Oil/ATF was changed at 78k (Delayed by 'rona) and it was fully spent.

Thanks. Mine is the 2 wheel drive 2013. It has not towed before.

I have the V70 auto, also 2013. Mine is a D3 135hp. I bet they share many similarities and parts.

I am extremely happy with mine. Might be a bit better if it was the D4. But I very rarely need to put it into manual mode.

I have only heard good reports on the XC 60 so I would think I’d would manage up to 1500 kg well.

I have the 2017 D6 version. Its the same as yours with the PHEV electric 78Hp motor on the real axle too. It tows well in both ICE mode, and EV mode and in hybrid (AWD) mode. I used Milenco mirrors on it and they were very stable.

As said above don’t ignore the Haldex fluid. My Volvo XC70 gave no problems with its 4wd. But my Superb 4wd had its Haldex fluid changed as recommended by Skoda at 20k and 40k and still wrote a pump off at 45k.
