Does Bad Luck really exist?

This follows on the Fred Drift from Road Rant.

I have noticed a few people on here seem to have more than their fair share of , shall we say , disappointments. Cars , caravans , holidays, restaurants , etc.

As kids we were told by the teachers it was 7 years bad luck if you broke a mirror or killed a spider.
Fact or Fiction🤔

Never heard of the spider bad luck myth? The way I look at it, if disappointed with holiday, restaurant etc we simply avoid them in the future so their bad luck. LOL! 🤣

We are quite prepared to send a meal back if it’s not satisfactory. However if we are in a group that becomes a bit more difficult as you then find one person, or more, having to wait whilst others are eating. So I tend to have a word in the waiters ear to the effect that I will eat it but don’t expect to pay, or what’s their solution? A large Malbec isn’t the answer if I’m driving.

We have seen what happens to a meal that is rejected and sent back to the kitchen so rather complain, pay and walk out.

I agree, but you do not know what unpleasantness may have been added to the meal by an annoyed chef. It may be very rare, but we prefer not to take the chance. (y)
Having worked in catering whilst still at school I can guess your line. I suppose you never drank mild or draught stout for the same reasons.

In response to DD initial post and the spider it's all to do with perspective, in the case of the dead Spider it was nothing less than a total catastrophic event in time😁

Reminds me of a visit to a pub in Stourport on Severn. Hot day and gasping for a beer. Eventually get to the counter and ask for a Banks mild. As she is pouring because it was slow, she put her finger under the tap and rub it around to get it to flow faster. All black bits in the beer. Thought she would pour another beer for me, but no, she gave the same one and looked very upset when I refused to pay or accept the beer. We went to another pub around the corner.

We have never killed spiders as they keep other pests like flies away. In Africa we had lizards living on the walls in our home. They were known to us as geckos and were very effective and catching flies.

So if a broken mirror falls on a spider and kills it, is it 14 years bad luck.

Actually, truth is we all like to moan more than we praise.🙄

I remarked a while ago that I’d be unlikely to ask you to buy my Lottery tickets. 🤣🤣🤣

Not "all" , I for one do not like to moan more than I praise, unfortunately there are times I have to set my preferences aside but still would have preferred a situation where I could praise.

I certainly found that praise to my team was so well received, if only on small issues successfully tackled. Big issues were a pub run.

No such thing as bad luck......until yer rocking horse dies:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I've had plenty in my time, however, upon reflection, some may have been the result of my own actions......apparently.
