Can anyone tell me of a beach that will allow dogs on them in dorset during the summer holidays. Most of the ones i know dont a;llow them. we are staying at merley court so any where near poole or studland will be good Thank you Ian.
woops! - http://www.nqsouthern.com/digitalpublication/digitalpublications/index.cfm?dpid=133§ion_id=1054Have a look at this Ian - Our favourite place (lots of water for the dogs!) is reached by instead of just passing the car park at Ogdens you enter the gravel car park and walk for about a mile along side the stream.
You then come accross a series of "ox bow lakes" (may have to get the O level Geography book out!) as well as several beaches.
The water is a red colour due to the iron in the water but if you have a net and a jam jar you can "fish". Behind you is the grazing area for New Forest Ponies and cattle that are used to people and will not bother you at all.
Still it is best not to pic-nic!
But if you sit still - absolute silence - and the dragonlflies and damsom flies of all sorts of colours will fly all arround you.
The food at the Royal Oak is frankly rather poor. It use to be very good but we were very disapointed last time we went.
The Forrestors Arms is far better.
Ian, I live in Poole. A good walk with a dog is from Whitecliff car park which is on the road from Poole Municipal Centre to Sandbanks. From there you can walk into Poole via Baiter. You have really good views of the harbour and there are loads of places for dogs to enter the water. There are no restrictions on dogs as it is not a beach. There is also a large car park at Baiter itself which is within a stones throw of Poole Quay.Ian check www.petsgoeurope.com/Beach_guide/Dorset_beaches.html
it lists all Dorset beaches and when/if dogs are allowed. It appears at first glance that there are several available to you.
