Know a few take their dogs with them in their caravans (looking at you Dustydog)
Looking for recommendations for dog friendly sites for our new pup. Been without a dog for about ten years so haven't needed to bother about whether sites were suitable or not. Looking for sites that have either good sized dog walks as part of the site or good dog walking adjacent. I can remember with our last dogs some sites would advertise that dogs were welcome but in reality they would have been better saying don't bring your dog as exercise space was non existent.
Some good sites I can think of are
Forfar CC
Linlithgow Beecraig Park
Bo Peep at Banbury

Hi Rob,
Hurn Lane CC site in Somerset doesn't have a dog walk, but about half a mile away are sand dunes and a long, dog friendly beach. Dog heaven!

Hi Rob, one of the nicest sites for dog walks I've been to recently is the C&CC site at West Runton, Norfolk. You can walk for miles from the site, on public footpaths which lead from the site. Beautiful countryside with lovely sea views! Another C&CC Club site I can think of is Corfe Castle, again, public footpaths available from the site. Oh, and there's Devizes C&CC site too, adjacent to the Kennet and Avon canal, if you like towpath walking.

Thanks. I'll keep a note of any that are posted. I'm looking for sites both local to me ( Central Scotland) for short breaks plus any further afield for longer breaks. Prefer sites where I don't need to stick the dog in the car to drive to a dog walk.

Hi Rob

long time no hear.
what breed of puppy have you?
The majority of CC sites have very good dog walks. Not just a short path but somewhere the dogs can be let loose and explore.
Grantown on Spey is by the old disused railway track. Magnificent walks about 500 feet above the town giving brilliant views.
Check if your chosen site is near a Forestry Commission wood. Excellent for dogs.
Where did you have in mind in central Scotland?

hi Rob, welcome back, I wondered where you had got to, glad your still with us and caravanning and a Puppy awweee thats nice B) we lost ours a few years ago now and cannot have another as neither of us is fit enough to do the walking bit, but have extensive journeys around you part of the world with one, lets know where you are going and there may be some sites we can recommend. one site we used to go to was Milton of fonab on the outskirts of Pitlochry its only half mile from town and a nice walk over the dam, dog walk is at the back of the site and goes for miles down the river bank.

Hi DustyD and Colin, thank you for your kind words. Although I haven't been posting it is an unusual day if I don't pop in and have a look see. Just never seemed to be anything I could contribute to, any queries were already answered by the likes of yourselves. Does seem to be a lot of the older posters AWOL though, sad.
We got our new addition in January, she is the Australian strain of Labradoodle. Depending on your view either a mongrel or something a bit more specific. Lovely nature anyway. We lost our last dogs about 12 years ago, both went within a year of each other, and we thought we wouldn't be getting another. Similar to Colin, we are not getting any younger ourselves, so it was either now or never.

The Central Scotland sites would be for weekends and I would be looking for something of less or not much more than 2 hours drive. We are in Lanarkshire, between Lanark and Livingston. The Forfar CC site I mentioned is about 2 hours away, the Linlithgow one about 30 minutes.
Hope you are both well,if I ever fathom how to post photos I will post one of the mutt (parksy has tried to tell me how previously).

I'll need to make the effort to post more often.

Rob

If you ever come down this way, we can recommend the Caravan Club Broads Site at Ludham, Norfolk, which has a dog walk. Great site with beautiful hanging baskets and friendly Wardens who keep the site immaculate.
