We have just come back from the caravan club site at Chirk and have to say it is great for dog walks, good onsite walk, best we have been to, also a path down to the canal with great views and a tow-path walk as long as you could ever need, and it is a very nice site, though keep to the right as there is some factory noise. another great camp which is wonderful for dog walks is the CC Sandringham site a very good site but a dull dull area we think.

We also like sites where we can take the dog for a good walk without using the car, tend to use CC sites but these sites great for walking with dogs. Low Moor near Whitby, Strid Wood, Clumber Park, Englethwaite Hall, Invercauld at Braemar, Marragowan, The Howard at Rosedale on the north yorks moors, Low Manestry and Troutbeck Head in the lakes.

Take a look at the CC site at Cirencester Park. Wonderful for dog(s). There is a huge dog exercising field, which even the greatest escapologist would find a challenge, at the top of the site and, if you prefer, you can walk through the park itself into Cirencester town.

Newton,

Try Chatsworth Park C.C. site. You can walk your dog in the whole of Chatsworth grounds, dog must be on lead.

Try Trewethitt Farm C.C. site, between Boscastle and Tintagel, the coastal path runs along the edge of the site. You can leave the car on site and walk to either Boscastle or Tintagel. Dog friendly pub in Boscastle for well behaved dogs. Also the most excellent sunsets.

Try Blackwall Plantation C.C. site. You can walk as far as you want round the resevoir.

Try Knaresborough C.C. site. You can walk the dog all the way into Knaresborough along the river.

Just to add to the list, we stayed at Wharfedale CC this past weekend and, in spite of the snow, it was fabulous. There's a decent dog walk at the site and you can get straight onto the Dales from the site entrance or the dog walk. No sheep either, so pooch was able to run free for a while (she comes back at the whistle, so no issues there).

As the hillside is grassy, there was a lot less mud to deal with on return to the 'van too, so thebetter half was happy.

All in all a great time for us.

We stayed at Wharfedale CC site last year and have rebooked again for this coming season. I agree with John, it is a great site. Exercising the dog was not an issue and there are many different paths from the site entrance.
