3 collies, loads of throws on the settees, off cuts for carpets and the guys sleep under the bed or at the far end of the van on their beds. They do react if a noise goes off in the night (except the deaf one of course)and easier to calm down if close by. Spend most of day in the awning. After 3 years, van still looks like new. The whole point of getting the van was to get away with the pups and difficult to find hotels that will take a dog, never mind 3 of them.

Our Chocolate Lab realy enjoys the van, he always behaves far better when we're away, I guess to say thanks for taking me.

He will bring us a shoe to ask for a walk, lift the lid of his food bin and let it drop to remind us it's teatime. He never misbehaves. In fact it took our site wardens 8 weeks to realise we had a 7 year old 40Kg choc Lab. All of our dogs have been trained by us to do as asked. That in it's self is rewarding to us. I have no problem with dogs on a site so long as the owners are well trained and in control.

We even take ours sailing on our Mirror dinghy, he loves it.

"The Bears" go everywhere with us and the van. They are tiny Pomeranians so they sleep with us just like always.Maddie has her spot behind my pillow and Ruby sleeps in the middle with her head on the pillow!!!! I know this is crazy but they are the main reason we opted for a full awning when we changed to a twin axle van.It serves as a good play area for them and with the sides rolled partly down they love it!.We have throws on the seats and towels to hand for wet paws.HIMSELF carries a back pack with all their accessories, water bottle, wipes, wet towels for hot weather and they even have a purpose built stroller for when we are in crowded places like a market,it keeps them cool and safe from being kicked by accident. Please don't harangue me I am usually a well adjusted sensible human being apart from this!! EMPTY NEST SYNDROME??? Dogs are like children, they are as much trouble as you make them.Just enjoy the time you share with them."The Bears" are well travelled,France,Spain and most of UK.

We are trying to sort out our little dog and what to do with her a night. We tried putting her bed in the end bathroom at night but she wakes up in the early hours and whines and scratches to be let out.The second night we put her bed between the front seating where we sleep but she ended up sleeping on my feet. The third night we put her blankets at the end of the seating where OH sleeps and she settled there all night. Not ideal but at least we got a good night's sleep.

When we leave her in the caravn and it's warm we leave windows open, pull blinds partly down and leave a fan on for her.

We only got into caravanning because of our dog - she's 16 months old and is crate trained - bought a fabulous fabric crate which assembles really easily and she sleeps in that - wierd hearing her little snorts and snuffles during the night!! Crate packs away during the day so doesn't take up space - we have an end bathroom and her crate sits nicely in the bathroom.

Hope this helps

We must be lucky! Our Cairn Terrier sleeps in her own bed, with her own bedding and toys, between our bunks and has done since 'vanning from a very early age. Start as you mean to go on. Yes, she is a 'chancer' (like most pets) and will hop up if she gets the chance but persistence has proved effective. She quite happily stays in her bed long after we rise!!! Take your dog away with you that is what caravanning is all about. It is amazing how little room the largest of dog(s) takes up. I know - we 'vanned for many years with 2 german shepherds who we would not even consider leaving in the awning overnight. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

If we go away with just one dog, it usually sleeps in the van with us now (on its own bed).

However, if we go away with both dogs, they sleep in their crates. If it's cold, we put three of those camping roll fabric thingy bobs under the crates. They have plenty of deep bedding and if needed, we'll put their crate covers over the crates. The older dog sometimes wears a fleece too.

If it's hot weather, I'll clip the water bowls inside their cages too.

Never had a problem. They're quite happy.

Good luck.

As above we take our choc lab he sleeps in his bed that is bought in last thing at night. Our great dane stays at home with our son. I keep threatening to take it but wife wont have any of it ;@). I encouraged her into the van once but she had trouble turning round so had to delecately back up into the bathroom before exiting.

When we had our cavalier he slept in his bed in his crate in the awning, we covered it with towels to keep the light out and the warmth in. He wasn't allowed in the caravan - dog hairs impossible to remove!!!
