I'm miffed because Dometic say I can't have it done by may Bailey dealer during the service. I have to take it somewhere else which means more complicated arragngements.

Thorpedo, what poor service from Dometic. We should all let Dometic know what we think also manufacturers of caravans if the are going to use equipment from firms that offer a poor srvice. Why can't they use a home call as they would with a domestic appliance. Keep us in the picture. JTS
I forgot to mention, I had a problem with my cooker and Highbridge Caravans (bless them) arranged a home service, the engineer called, ordered spares and returned later and did the job. As it should be.

It maybe that your Bailey dealer does not have a gas fitter who is corgi registered,Mendip caravans (Evesham)sent their engineer to me while I was on site,he said there is a shortage of qualified fitters.

In scotland Dometic have 2 service centers Larbert and Turriff not all corgie fitters are dometic service agents William
We took delivery of a Elddis Odyssey 482 in jan 2007 and I immediately began to use it for long term accomodation as I was working on a contract away from home. the 'van was sited at the C & CC site at Malvern and after a few days I discovered the fridge ( Dometic) was not working properly. This was february when all the snow arrived last year.
Dometic operate a callout service if your appliance is within warranty period. I contacted the nearest engineer from shrewsbury! and he arrived on the site at 5-00pm he finally left at 8-30pm!! after changing every component in the fridge and testing every circuit umpteen times over and after we between us discovered the fault was in the manufacturers wiring in the caravan and nothing to do with the fridge itself. He stayed on to rectify the fault in the wiring but understandably I paid for that repair separately and reclaimed it from the dealers as it was not a failure of the appliance.
I could not have wished for better service from the engineer or dometics warranty system. so if you are talking about new appliances within warranty as I presume you are call your nearest service provider .

Thanks for the sympathy and advice, the Caravan is in indoor storage and difficult access so I think I'll persue a Home visit if the Bailey dealer ' Outdoor Experience, Devon' can't do the work during the service next month.

Asked my dealer about the recall and he said they can't do it but when it goes in for a service, ring a week before hand and they will get an engineer from Dometic to check it out. Fine by me.

Can anyone tell me what model Dometic fridges are involved in the recall & what the recall is about?
I have a 2007 spec Bailey series 5 Indiana, fitted with a RM7401 & I'm wondering if it's part of the recall?

I went to my local dealer in Orpington Kent and was told that they couldn't do the job as they were not Dometic agents (much to my surprise). Anyway I managed to contact Dometic by telephone gave them my details and they told me that they would be in touch. Two months later I received a letter from Dometic Germany, informing them that my nearest dometic service agent was ..wait for it... Tyneside !!!! I live in South London!!
I contacted Tyneside and they agreed with me that Germans can't read maps
They gave me the telephone number of Dometic UK and I spoke the customer service gut there and he was able to tell me that my dealership were being sent out all the necessary brackets, rivets, instructions and specially adapted rivet gun to undertake the work. Hopefully when my van goes in for its service in May it will be done then.

We had ours done yesterday, mobile Dometic agent came to caravan at home,did the job left the paperwork and we weren,t even at home at the time, he had arranged to do several in the area on the same day. He had been to us before for warranty work on a previous van, we have been impressed with the way Dometic have dealt with this problem

Mine was done on Thursday. Dometic gave my the No of a mobile engineer. He did the modification in about 10 mins.
