We have bought a new Car a 4X4 Toyota LC

We have bought a new Caravan a Bessacarr Cameo 645 GL

We are retired ( aged 58 & 57 )

We will have a Grand-daughter on the 1st of August

We have sold our apartment in Spain

We are looking forward to holidays together, and with our Grand-daughter

We are enjoying life.

And we hope everyone else is.

One other thing this caravanning is not cheap, total all in Car + Van + Extras which = Movers TA, 120 Am battery 2x6kg Propane,1x Aquarol, 1 x Hitchlock,1 set of Level ramps,Wastmaster.

Total £52920.

Which is really quite good value when you will have all the enjoyment and FUN over say the next 10/20 years.

Clarkson who cares

Enjoy!

Congratulations Frank and Val.

Your just a little older than me and we retired five years ago.

We have our two granddaughters with us for the summer on the road. (Italy at present)

We have a Bessacarr like yours but with a different bedroom set up.

Home is Draguignan now so we enjoy fine weather all year round.

We have a Bailey as well as we are having our house rebuilt and have been living in the two vans since March rather than move out.

People on sites think the girls are our own, I would never have beleived they could have made that mistake five years ago.

Over weight and tired of work then, retirement has been a joy so far.

Just tell people you're an OAP and wind them up like me. Some we meet really get quite funny when we say we're retired.

Thanks Chelsea,

You just summed it up ( how nice it must be to just get up and go). That's what made the decsion easy although it took a few weeks to decide on the car and van. I feel we know every Scottish car and caravan salesman personally. We would have been sending their children birthday cards soon, we got to know them that well !!!. Still we hope we have got it right in the end we are looking forward to it all so much. I feel I have absorbed a lot of useful infomation from this site with regard to the technical aspects of caravanning. Just hoping I don't screw it up first time out !!!!

Bye the way, took a bet on Arsenal for the League and Cup double

At least you took your time Frank, you know now you have made the right decision, yes it sounds like a lot of money, but take away the price of the car and add up a few package foreign holidays and all what you've bought is a bargain!

Your grand-daughter will love it, and thats what its all about, why work all your life and not enjoy it and enjoy splashing your hard earned cash eh? :)

ps- Arsenal?!!...yes that must have been a sudden brainstorm,...cant see that happening this season. Another title in the bag for cfc !...ah well, you've only lost

Hi Euro,

Hope your enjoying your holiday, a nice bottle of Chianti with your evening meal sounds good. Take care and any ideas on how we can persuade Brown to stop taxing us early retirees.

Well done, get some time in though - 64 and 61 us - just do it but whatch out for those grandkids.

Love em. to bits but they can kerb your style if you aint careful - babysitting and taking and fetching from school can eat into the away in the van time.

Frank.

Carry on being bold , get the van on the road and head for the sun.

I know Scotland is lovely but I found getting a few hundred steady motorway miles under my belt developed an at one relationship with the caravan. Rather than 50 miles around country roads.

Friends collected their first van from a Berkshire dealer drove onto the M4 and M25 and on to Dover and the south of France for their first trip. They never looked back and the steady motorway driving developed the awareness of their new Car and Vans Bulk.

By the time they found a narrow road Harry was well aware of the vans size and has never had a problem.

Sorry Frank, replied re your friend MR Brown but it never got posted.

All I can suggest is that you take your money out of the UK, I've not been a UK resident for many years and still have property interests in a number of countries so Mr Brown is not a problem we have.
