That the clocks go back one hour tonight, well at 02.00 am B.S.T. in the morning anyway.

I hate the dark nights.

i hate the dark nights too. i'm very sad today, we picked up our new bailey ranger, but have wintered it up. thought there was no point in stocking it all up again for 1 night. boo hoo.

Why don't you use your new Bailey during the winter? Modern caravans can be used year-round, you can be warm and snug with your heatint on, and on a lovely site with heated toilet blocks, and never have to 'winter' your van again. All you need do is protect the water system again freezing (bubble wrap your aquaroll) and use Propane instead of Butane. You'll discover a whole new world of winter caravanners.

Excuse me one & all I know it gets darker an hour sooner now that the clocks have gone back but have I missed something? .......................................................Unless you live within the artic circle wasn't it always dark at night anyway????????

We've just got ourselves a new (to us) van - taken it away last weekend and loved it! There is no way on earth we are going to leave it so sit on the driveway during winter! Ditch the awning, get urselves 2 decent heaters (in case one packs up) some bubble-wrap for the aquaroll and make sure you're running on propane.

I think the only thing that will stop us is snow - we've done wet (all year) we've done cold (this weekend and much of last year) but I don't think that my front wheel drive car will behave too well with a van on the back in the snow!

Just booked ourselves a 2 night stay at a farm near scarborough for weekend after next - can't wait!

...and I love dark nights in winter - the stars are so much clearer!

But I much prefer a dark night in summer sitting in the garden / outside the van with a nice cold stella and a pack of cancer sticks.
