Can’t think when we last had a caravan where it’s OEM carpets haven’t resided in the loft. We tend to stick with the OEM doormat and have four separate cotton mats which have non slip backing and are sized to go in the washing machine. When the awning is up we always take outdoor shoes off before entering the van. With no awning it’s a bit more difficult to keep dirt outside that’s why I bought OH a 18v cordless vacuum for Christmas. It’s got nearly 35 minutes run time so we could hire it out to other caravanners. But I guess the brush and dustpan will still be in the payload.
Of course with two Springers which are veritable mud magnets it’s a bit of an uphill struggle to keep the van on a par with an operating theatre for cleanliness. :)

I'm sure most readers will have come across those thin usually black rubber edged mats that you walk on as you enter a building or office block? Look at dirt trapper mats from www.splendidpets.co.uk
We had these in all areas except the 'lounge' in our last caravan and we have a couple at home as well. They look to be expensive but for the wear and tear that they will absorb they are brilliant value. You can cut them to size and shape, they grip bits, they don't slip, and they vac perfectly clean in little more than seconds. Best thing we ever put in our porch!

What vac did you buy Clive ?

Kev

It’s the Hoover Jovis + 18v lithium. Looking at spec it’s 20 minutes from 4 hour charge. Used it a couple of times at home and had good suction. Hotpoint service engineer used it today when repairing the dryer. Commented on its design and performance.

Had to do something to make amends for bining the mini ironing board that came with the van. The vac will be ace for cleaning out the cars too. Which is the ‘hunters’ role. But it’s not big enough to do the OH’s real Christmas present; an oriental carpet.
