Dorema Awning (again!)

I'm hoping you can help me with yet another awning question!! I managed to get the frame diagram from Dorema for my awning and we managed to get the awning up. I know this may sound like a totally stupid question (I'm new to all this!) but do the awning poles attach to the caravan somehow?

Please help! If we don't crack this soon we'll never get away on our first trip!!

Depends on what you have bought. As supplied you have to attach by screws sockets for the awning poles. This is not desirable for obvious reasons. You can buy as an optional extra pads which clip onto beading around the edge of the awning (just beside the edge that fees through the awning rail. The poles then fit into these pads and are held against the side of the awning by tension.

I used to have one of these, and they work well, but to be honest, I found the whole thing so much hassle that the awning only got used once on a week long stay. As most of my caravaning is either weekends or touring from site to site I have never replaced the awning when I got a new caravan.

julie.what you need is quick lock pads.look on ebay item no 150337820791.depending how many roofpoles you have.you will need 3 or 5.regards Ron

Depends on what spares you need. I have bought spare poles from my local caravan and camping shop. But if you specifically need dorema parts I bought them either from e-bay or the main dealers.

Another place which I found really helpful is highbridge caravan dealers.

A little thing I found that helped when we had our first awning was, once we had got the thing up we bought different coloured rolls of insulating tape and colour coded each pole. That way when we put it up the second time we new red went with red, blue with blue etc. a little like an idiots guide which I definately needed!!!

I emailed Dorema for the pole diagram and they emailed me back the next day. I just told them what awning I had etc.
