Looking around, this seems to be a common complaint by us newbies

I've just bought a 'van, complete with awning, there's a photocopy of a dorema booklet with the paperwork, it's all a bit greek to me
I'm afraid. Perhaps if there was a frame plan, I could make some sense of it. Has anyone got one they could copy/email to me?

Also I don't understand the 'Quick lock pads' where/how do they attach to the awning/van? How does the awning attach to it's frame? What's a ladder strap??

The advice I've been given to 'practise assembly' is sound, I'm sure, but I haven't the foggiest of how to start.

Hi Mick
First of all I'll explain that quick lock pads are attached to the awning rather than the caravan. A Ladder Strap is an elastic attachment which enables you to peg down the awning, it's a small grey oblong of about 4" with two or three 'rungs', you'll recognise them when you see them.
These Instructions show the quick lock pads in place, they are attached to beading inside the awning roof near to the awning rail. The awning poles fit into the quick lock pads.
You will find a Dorema frame diagram Here if your particular awning is not listed click on Dorema Small Size Standard Frame, download and print a copy.
You will see that the short ends with spikes go into holes on the outside of the awning over the front roof to maintain the tension.
Erect the frame as a trial run first to sort out the uprights (with rubber bungs on the bottom ends) from the Horizontal (with bent spike attachments for the quick locks.
When you have successfully erected your awning for the first time use coloured insulating tape from the pound shop to mark the poles for easy identification the next time.

Have you had a look on the Dorema web site ?
If you have no luck e-mail them with the name & size of the awning & ask if they have a frame plan......

Quick lock pads ( they clamp onto the inner bead of the awning )

The awning is threaded into the awning rail & the frame built up underneath it......
This will give you an idea of how to do it

Good luck .........

I'd already showed him all of that and given the OP the instructions (with pictures) and a site to download a frame diagram
