HI all we recenctly purchased a dorema vision porch awning direct from dorema factory via their web site which on first impressions we are pleased with the quality etc ,well we had our first outing with the dorema vision porch awning, we had already sorted and marked the poles and even erected the frame so we had an incling on how it went together on site, it was great we had the frame erected in 15 mins, slid the awning through the rail of the caravan, then walked the erected frame underneath as we had been tipped to do..all was going great untill this point and thought we would break all records on erecting an awning as we were used to putting up a isabella full awning, but then we were stumped...on the instructions it says the frame is free standing, do not use the eyes or quick lock pads, there is thick padding down each side of the awning to ensure a snug fit which i assumed the poles helped keep it tight to the van except at the end of the roof poles are hooks , which on the isabella are used with the quick lock pads, but was told not to use them on the porch, we were totally stumped because if you use the quick locks...where do you put them? theres no room at the very end of the roof, it wont work actually on the padding ...after 2 hours scratching our heads and everyone else on site trying to help we gave up and put the quick locks on the padding itself except it meant you could not get a good fit down the side of the caravan because the poles could not keep the padding tight at the sides, if we had not used the quick locks it would have meant just pushing the hooks against the padding probably causing damage... how does everyone else get over this problem or an i being blonde?

2.4 Instructions for erecting a porch awning
Before you start to erect the porch awning we would like to point out
that most Dorema porch awnings are equipped with a stable freestanding frame provided with four corner leg rafters. Because of this
free-standing frame it is not necessary to fix plastic eyes onto your
caravan. The leg rafters of the frame together with the sewn in cushion
pads provide a perfect fit against the skin of the caravan. So, the frame is
not fixed onto the caravan with the help of plastic eyes or Quick Lock
pads!

So how do people go on when on a sloping pitch ??
Mine has clamps that fasten the uprights to the top frame to keep the cushions against the van

1) Put the caravan on a flat piece of ground completely horizontal ????

in order to create the best possible tension of your porch awning
